who is this guy?

I’m Sean, studying Computer Science with a dual degree in Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I’m a (semi-retired) competitive programmer, NLP enthusiast, and theoryhead! In linguistics, I’m mostly interested in digital humanities, especially ancient languages. I’m currently working with Professor Tandy Warnow in the CPHL group to develop better algorithms to infer language family trees. In Summer 2024, I was busy improving the markets as a software enginner intern at Optiver.

I’m a bilingual native speaker in both Mandarin Chinese and English, and can hold a conversation in Japanese; I’ve also taken a semester of Hittite from the wonderful Prof. Shosted at UIUC.

What I’ll write here and in what language are both TBD - I hope you’re as excited as I am for what’s to come!
